Police Officers

Police officers hold a uniquely dangerous job and the frequency of work-related injuries and illnesses is particularly high in their line of work. In their pursuit to enforce the law they are faced with hazards presented by those they encounter as well as the environments in which they must serve. For police officers, injuries and illnesses are most commonly a result of their efforts to detain a suspect and the suspect assaulting the officer in the process. Police officers are in a unique position with regards to workers’ compensation because their job requires full physical capability so they often times miss inordinate amounts of work before they are fully recovered.
