Anna N. Martinez, a native Coloradoan with roots in the San Luis Valley, is a bilingual trial lawyer who is passionate about representing Spanish speaking clients. Anna’s trial experience includes litigation at the county and district court level, as well as appeals before the Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court. Anna earned her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law with a Certificate in Federal Indian Law, and her B.A. from Columbia University in the City of New York. Anna is licensed to practice before the state and federal courts of Colorado and New Mexico.
Before joining Franklin D. Azar & Associates, Anna worked at a litigation boutique, Ogborn Mihm, LLP, where she practiced primarily in the areas of legal malpractice, business torts, and personal injury. After graduating from law school, Anna clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Mary Mullarkey of the Colorado Supreme Court.
Anna is actively involved in the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, Spanish Speaking Lawyers Committee, and the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association. In addition to her trial practice, Anna is an author for two CLE in Colorado publications entitled “Lawyers’ Professional Liability in Colorado: Preventing Legal Malpractice and Disciplinary Actions,” and “Colorado Courtroom Handbook.” She has also published legal articles in Trial Talk, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association’s monthly publication; the Denver University Online Law Review; and, the Colorado Bar Association’s magazine, The Colorado Lawyer.
Finally, Anna is very interested in the judiciary, its function in society, and the process by which the state’s judges are chosen and retained. She has been part of, and has led, the judicial committees of both the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, and the Colorado Women’s Bar Association. Anna was also honored to serve as a member of the Federal Magistrate Judge Selection Panel.
